Ask anyone who has been in his chair, and they will tell you that Dr. Schmidt is compassionate and sincere in his dedication to helping patients achieve their best possible smiles. Imagine a doctor who makes follow-up phone calls in the evening to check on the well-being of patients – that’s Dr. Schmidt.
Dr. Schmidt studied in Utah and Oregon before practicing in the State of Washington, where he served at the University of Washington School of Dentistry as an affiliate instructor. However, as a native Arizonian, the Phoenix Valley community called him back to the Grand Canyon state.
Each day, he works to raise the standard for dental healthcare: He has already followed hundreds of hours of continuing education, learnt the latest technologies and techniques, and genuinely listens to the concerns of his patients. His goal is to provide comfortable treatment with long-lasting results that look natural. He maintains that edge, in part, through membership in:
- Academy of General Dentistry
- American Dental Association
- Arizona Dental Association
- National Health Service Corps
- Spear Education
Dr. Schmidt also earned the extraordinary distinction of Master in the Academy of General Dentistry. He demonstrated extensive coursework knowledge with an exam that the AGD reports is as rigorous as exams required to attain specialization in dental disciplines, or board certification.
Dr. Schmidt went above and beyond these strenuous standards to complete more than 1,100 CE credit hours. Of those, Master-distinguished dentists must earn at least 400 credit hours through “live” courses. The Mastership is the most significant designation offered by the AGD (Academy of General Dentistry). Only 6% of the general dentists in the United States and Canada are FAGD dentists. Master-designated dentists, like Dr. Schmidt and Dr. Nielson, are rarer and account for fewer than 2% of all American and Canadian general dental practitioners.
He is a certified Invisalign provider and utilizes state-of-the-art iTero 3D scanner technology to provide the best outcome to his patients.

Outside the office, Dr. Schmidt enjoys spending time with his family. He and his wife have four children. When he is not coaching soccer or attending dance recitals, he likes to play basketball and get to the mountains.
What influenced Dr. Timothy Schmidt to become the finest Dentist in Phoenix ?
I became a dentist because I knew there was a better way.
As I talk to people or my neighbors, they always ask me for a 2nd opinion. This is because they were not comfortable or not sure about their dentist.
They are worried about staff turnover, change in the dentist or they’ll say things like, “Why doesn’t my dentist just hear me or treat me like a person instead of a set of teeth?”. People are concerned about, why can’t they find someone capable that they can genuinely trust.
I became a dentist because I knew if I worked hard and as a genuinely thoughtful person, I surely could find a better way to do dentistry. I think we have accomplished that in our office.
