At Life Smiles Dental Care, patients in the area of Phoenix, AZ can enjoy quality treatment, including orthodontic services. When patients want to address misaligned teeth, they have a variety of options available to them. Patients who visit with Drs. Paul Nielson and Timothy Schmidt will learn about the benefits of using alternative orthodontic treatments such as Six Month Smiles.

Understanding Six Month Smiles

When patients think of orthodontic treatment, their first thought goes to metal brackets and wires. In many cases, especially patients with severe misalignment, this is the best way to address malocclusion. However, when patients have mild misalignment of the front teeth, also known as the anterior teeth, they may be a better candidate for a less intrusive solution such as Six Month Smiles. While Six Month Smiles uses brackets and wires on the teeth, but they are clear or tooth-colored – ensuring less visibility. Many patients love how Six Month Smiles provides a more discreet way to improve the smile’s alignment.

How Six Month Smiles works

Six Month Smiles works by gently repositioning the front teeth into better alignment with less powerful forces than conventional braces, while still achieving results in a faster period. Because the focus is only on the teeth near the front of the mouth, this method of treatment improves the smile faster with more precision. Six Month Smiles is a simple and expedited method of enhancing the appearance and alignment of the teeth.

To determine candidacy for Six Month Smiles, it is essential that patients visit the team at Life Smiles Dental Care for an evaluation and to decide if this is the most effective way of addressing misaligned teeth. Drs. Paul Nielson and Timothy Schmidt are dedicated dentists in our practice who can provide this assessment and explain more about this or other methods of treating misaligned teeth.

How else can misaligned teeth be improved?

  • Porcelain Veneers – if a single tooth is misaligned, patients may opt for an alternative solution called porcelain veneers. Porcelain veneers, or “dental veneers,” are thin ceramic facings that are bonded onto the front of teeth to change their appearance. Not only can it be beneficial for patients with mildly misaligned teeth, but it can improve the appearance of the smile when there are other concerns including teeth that are spaced, permanently stained, chipped, fractured, or unusually shaped.
  • Composite Bonding – also known as dental bonding, composite resin bonding is a special material that can be molded onto the surfaces of the teeth to cover imperfections. This can be used in the same manner as porcelain veneers but is completed in one appointment. Composite resin bonding can disguise problem teeth while still maintaining a natural appearance, as the material mimics the natural appearance of tooth enamel after it has been shaped and polished by the dentist.
