Teeth Whitening Treatments

contact our Scottsdale, AZ dental office today to schedule an appointment with one of our doctors for whitening your smile. Call (602) 485-3521.Our patients consider a bright, white smile one of the most important features of a person’s physical appearance.

The condition of your smile can make or break that interview for your dream job. People who flash their pearly whites on a regular basis generally meet more people and make more friends than those who hide their unsightly discolored teeth by refusing to smile.

The guy with a great smile is more likely to get a date with the new girl in accounting than one with yellow, stained teeth.

A beautiful smile can affect your life professionally and socially, and the doctors at Life Smiles Dental Care proudly offer several whitening treatments to our patients, so they can find success in all aspects of their lives.

KoR Deep Bleaching System

One whitening option our doctors recommend, the revolutionary KoR Deep Bleaching® system, provides reliable results due to the company’s method of storage and shipping.

The manufacturers realize that whitening agents have greater potency and cause fewer problems for patients when kept refrigerated.

Therefore, the KoR whitening agent stays stored in refrigerated warehouses and the company ships it out in refrigerated trucks. The gel remains cooled until delivered to our office.

Other whitening gels experience heat exposure while sitting in warehouses or uninsulated trucks. The heat causes degradation in the gel, which limits its effectiveness. As the gel degrades, acidic hydrogen ions start to form. These ions cause the pain and sensitivity patients experience with many whitening gels.

The active ingredient in the KoR system, carbamide peroxide, produces hydrogen peroxide and other free radical compounds when exposed to water. These compounds break up stains, removing them from the teeth.

Custom-fit KoR-Seal trays provide another advantage of the system. The trays protect the whitening agent from contamination by saliva.

The doctors use an average of 6.5mg of peroxide in each tray, and saliva can destroy almost 30mg of peroxide in just one minute. With traditional whitening trays, some saliva makes its way inside, contaminating the gel and providing the patient with a maximum of 25-35 minutes of contact while the gel remains active and potent.

With the KoR-seal trays, the gel remains active and potent for up to 10 hours. The custom trays also provide uniform contact with the gel, preventing spots on the teeth.

The KoR system has several different programs to choose from, based on the severity of your stains and the level of brightness you hope to achieve.

Most options involve one or two in-office treatments combined with one of several at-home choices. The office procedure typically requires two visits, with the first visit comprised of ordering all supplies and making impressions of the patient’s teeth for the KoR-Seal trays.

The actual office procedure takes about 90 minutes.

KoR Take-Home Program

Most KoR treatment packages begin with the KoR Home program. The program comes in a Day or Night treatment.

These treatments include a less potent form of the whitening gel, but patients can use them in the comfort of their home.

The daytime program has a 9% hydrogen peroxide gel, and patients wear the trays once or twice a day for short periods of time. The gel that comes with the nighttime program contains 16% carbamide peroxide, and patients wear the trays overnight as they sleep.

The overnight treatment typically provides better results than the daytime one. Patients usually use one of these treatments for two weeks before coming in for the office treatment for best results.

The KoR Deep Bleaching® system has several programs to choose from. KoR Max combines two weeks of the home treatment with a single office visit using a 34% carbamide peroxide gel.

KoR Ultra, used to combat staining due to age or fluorosis, combines two office treatments with 3-4 weeks of nighttime home treatment. Patients will have an in-office treatment with a 13% carbamide peroxide gel, followed by the at-home treatment, then return for an office treatment with the 34% gel.

Finally, the KoR Ultra-T program, used to fight tetracycline stains, has a similar schedule as the Ultra program, but patients use the home nighttime treatment for 6-8 weeks.

Zoom! Whitening

For this in-office whitening treatment, the doctors like to start with a regular cleaning and examine the teeth to determine the cause and severity of the stains. Then the doctor covers the lips and gums, leaving the teeth exposed.

The doctor applies the Zoom! Whitening gel to the patient’s teeth, then uses the Zoom! Advanced Power Chairside Lamp to activate the hydrogen peroxide contained in the whitening gel.

As it breaks down, oxygen molecules enter the enamel and dentin, breaking apart the molecules that make up stains while leaving the tooth’s structure intact.

The treatment lasts about 45 minutes, and afterwards the doctor applies a fluoride gel reduce tooth sensitivity.

The doctor will provide you with a take home touch-up kit with custom fitted trays to help maintain your bright smile.
