Frequently asked questions about Invisalign teeth straightening

At Life Smiles Dental Care, we are excited to offer Phoenix, Arizona area patients a wide selection of general, cosmetic, and restorative dentistry services. Additionally, we provide treatments that can help patients improve their smile’s aesthetics, specifically misalignment. Our team may recommend orthodontic treatment using Invisalign custom aligners if you have gaps, misaligned teeth, or even poor bite alignment. This teeth straightening method is a wonderful alternative to traditional braces for patients seeking a more discreet solution to metal bracket-and-wire appliances. Our team frequently gets asked questions about Invisalign orthodontics. Below are some of the most common ones.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is best described as a modern alternative to traditional braces for straightening your teeth. It uses a series of customized clear plastic aligners changed out every two weeks as your teeth gradually shift into the desired position. These aligners are nearly invisible and can be removed for eating and brushing, making them extremely convenient and comfortable.

What types of Invisalign are offered at Life Smiles Dental Care?

Our practice offers traditional Invisalign, Fast Track Invisalign, and Invisalign Go. Fast Track Invisalign and Invisalign Go offer a much shorter treatment period for patients with mild misalignment of the teeth in the dental arch.

Is Invisalign better than braces?

While both types of treatment can be effective, orthodontic treatment with Invisalign may be more beneficial in some instances. The main benefit is the discretion it offers patients who want to enhance their smile without the hassle of metal brackets or wires. Additionally, since the aligners are removable, they are much easier to keep clean and simplify home care. Patients love that they have control over their treatment and can achieve the results without the embarrassment of metal braces.

How does Invisalign work in realigning teeth?

The process begins with an initial consultation and digital imaging to take a close look at the teeth and jaw with Dr. Timothy Schmidt, our Invisalign provider. Then, the Invisalign software is used to map out the desired treatment plan. The customized aligners are then created using 3D printing technology and sent to Life Smiles Dental Care. Patients will be instructed to wear them as directed by their dentist or orthodontist to achieve optimal results. With each aligner change, minor adjustments can be made if needed until the ideal alignment has been achieved.

How long does it take?

The length of time for treatment varies depending on the individual’s needs; most patients can expect a 12-18 month timeline for traditional Invisalign, six months for Invisalign GO, and about two months with Invisalign Fast Track before they reach their desired goals. During that time, compliance with instructions provided by our professionals is critical to stay on track and target the desired results.

Am I a good candidate for Invisalign?

Invisalign is a treatment that can be used to achieve a more attractive smile with proper bite alignment without feeling embarrassed throughout the process.
