Our dentists are Masters of the Academy of General Dentistry –Why you should trust your smile to an MAGD

At Life Smiles Dental Care, we are proud to announce to our extended dental “family” and community that Dr. Tim Schmidt is now a Master of the Academy of General Dentistry. Residents in and around Phoenix, Arizona, are fortunate to benefit from the high level of expertise conveyed by Dr. Schmidt’s status as an MAGD dentist.

FAGD and MAGD dentists – a class apart

The distinction as either a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD) or a Master of the AGD (MAGD) matters; the AGD is the preeminent professional organization for general dentists. Its members are committed to advancing general dentistry and oral health through quality continuing education (CE). These principles align well with Life Smile Dental Care’s commitment to ongoing learning and continually elevating the standard of care in dentistry.

To attain Fellow status, Dr. Schmidt completed upwards of 500 hours of qualifying CE. He demonstrated extensive coursework knowledge with an exam that the AGD reports is as rigorous as exams required to attain specialization in dental disciplines, or board certification, with respective certifying bodies.

Dr. Schmidt went above and beyond these strenuous standards to complete more than 1,100 CE credit hours. Of those, Master-distinguished dentists must earn at least 400 credit hours through “live” courses. Again, to demonstrate his extensive knowledge, Dr. Schmidt successfully passed an exam to qualify as an MAGD. The Mastership is the most significant designation offered by the AGD. When Dr. Schmidt earned his Fellowship, he became a member of a rare group: Only 6% of the general dentists in the United States and Canada are FAGD dentists. Master-designated dentists are rarer and account for fewer than 2% of all American and Canadian general dental practitioners.

Peace of mind for you and your family

Your health and safety are in exceptional hands by partnering with an MAGD dentist. It is a point of great pride for us at Life Smiles Dental Care to say that both of our dentists have earned Mastership status with the academy. When you or a loved one visits Drs Tim Schmidt or Paul Nielson, you benefit from their extensive hands-on and technical knowledge and experience with the latest techniques and best practices that modern dentistry has to offer.

Our patients are better for this because they have access to all the latest proven tools and therapies to conservatively, predictably, comfortably, safely, conveniently, precisely, and efficiently reveal or maintain their healthiest smiles. And healthy smiles exude confidence and support overall wellbeing and health.
